Brexit challenges dismissed by Northern Ireland High Court

  • Ireland
  • General

Today (Friday 28 October) the Belfast High Court dismissed two judicial review applications that challenged the outcome of the BREXIT referendum.

The judge (Mr Justice Maguire) was of the view that the prerogative power of the British government (above parliament) remained and can be used for the purpose of giving the Article 50 notification.

In dismissing the applications, the judge made it clear that this decision did not prejudice similar challenges being taken in England.
