Damian McElholm, Banking & Finance Senior Associate

We would like to welcome Damian McElholm, our new Banking & Finance Senior Associate who will be based in our Belfast office.

Damian has developed considerable experience acting for a variety of key stakeholders in large value and complex banking and finance transactions to include major financial institutions, private equity funds and sophisticated corporate borrowers.

He has garnered a sound understanding of secured lending transaction work across a variety of real estate, acquisition finance and project finance matters.  This has encompassed facilities advanced using loan market association documentation as well as local bank standard form documentation.

Damian is also experienced in advising insolvency practitioners and secured creditors in respect of the outworkings of a wide variety of restructuring and enforcement related matters.

Damian’s recent experience includes the following:

  • Advised an international financial institution on the restructure of its existing facilities and a further credit facility to a major NI based social housing association
  • Acted for a private equity fund and its agents in respect of the enforcement process relating to a portfolio of trading assets and the subsequent disposal of those assets to a major retail operator
  • Advised a leading renewable energy group in respect of the local law finance aspects relating to the construction, development and operation of five significant wind farm assets located in Northern Ireland
  • Acted for a private equity group in respect of the local law finance requirements of a high yield bond transaction involving a global pharmaceutical business
