Irish Revenue have announced that the new EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (“CETA”) will be provisionally applied on 21 September 2017. From that date duty rates on traded goods will be reduced or eliminated.

If you are exporting consignments of goods with a value greater than €6,000 to Canada and wish to avail of preferences under the EU-Canada trade agreement (CETA), you should register in Registered Exporters System (REX).

If you are importing from Canada, you can qualify under CETA for preferences, but you do not have to register in REX.

If you would like any further information on how CETA may affect your business please feel free to contact a member of our Tax Group.
