Irish veto on border issue

It was reported on 17 November that the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has warned that Ireland will veto progress of Brexit talks to Phase 2 in December unless the UK gives a formal written guarantee that there will be no hard border with Northern Ireland. The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michael Barnier, later said that he supported the Irish position, and that it was up to Britain to put forward workable solutions
