    26-05-2020

Eversheds Sutherland’s Accelerator Academy launched in 2018 and since then we have been delighted to have had the opportunity to follow the journeys of its eight participants.

The Accelerator Academy, which is similar to a scholarship in that it provides mentoring opportunities and a bursary, aims to give its participants the opportunity to develop important life skills while they work their way towards becoming professionals in their chosen field.

Julieanne Forrest is a very talented violinist and a member of the Eversheds Sutherland Accelerator Academy. She has recently written a blog post, providing us with an update on how she is spending her time in the face of the outbreak of Covid-19.

"A lot has changed in the world we’re living in. Trying to find a sense of normal hasn’t been easy for anyone. Fortunately I’ve been having lessons on zoom with my teacher Fionnuala. It’s great to still be able to learn new things during this time. Aside from practising I’ve found a lot of enjoyment in playing for my family. It gives a sense of purpose to the work I’m putting in during this time when everything is uncertain. I’ve also been enjoying long walks and listening to music. It’s a nice way to relax and switch off especially with school exams being this month!

Of course I’m missing contact with friends and family although zoom and FaceTime are great it’s just not the same. On a positive note I’ve been cooking and baking which are always useful skills to have and ones I rarely had time for before lockdown. Schoolwork has also kept me busy in the past few months and will continue to for the next while! Overall this year hasn’t been what I expected it to be but I’ve found a new appreciation for freedom and the ability to travel and be with friends and family."
