Since Eversheds Sutherland’s Accelerator Academy launched in 2018, our people have thoroughly enjoyed following the journeys of its eight participants.

The Accelerator Academy, which is similar to a scholarship in that it provides mentoring opportunities and a bursary, aims to give its participants the opportunity to develop important life skills while they work their way towards becoming professionals in their chosen field. So far, the Accelerator Academy has worked with eight of Ireland’s highest performing, up and coming track athletes and classical musicians.

Sarah Healy – a participant in our athletics academy which is championed by former Olympians Sonia O’Sullivan and Dave Matthews – has had an extremely busy year after completing her Leaving Cert with more than enough points to secure her first-choice preference to study law at UCD, whilst also maintaining a demanding training schedule.

We are delighted to share a few words from Sarah on her activity in recent months.

    Sarah’s blog:

"Over the last few months I have been busy with my winter training which involves running lots of miles and building my fitness for the summer season. In January I travelled to Flagstaff in Arizona for an altitude training camp. I was there for three weeks and staying with a professional runner. I had never been to America before or trained at altitude so it was a completely new experience. I met a lot of people and had the opportunity to train with older and more experienced athletes which was both challenging and fun.

Since returning home I have continued training and I am aiming to run in a few indoor races in February.

After that I will be focusing on the summer season. This year my main aims are to run personal bests in the 1500m and 800m.

I would also like to qualify for the European Seniors which will be held in Paris in August.

I am looking forward to a summer of competing and getting the best out of myself on the track."
