Eversheds Sutherland in the acquisition of Modar S.p.A.

Eversheds Sutherland, with a team led by Marco Franzini, executive partner, and made of Alessandro Vischi, principal associate, and Sara D'Itri, trainee (in relation to the corporate aspects), Angelo Alfonso Speranza, principal associate, and Francesca Sergiano, trainee (in relation to the acquisition financing aspects), Margherita Gramegna, associate (in relation to the labour aspects), assisted Investindesign S.p.A. (“Investindesign”), Italian Design Brands S.p.A. (“IDB”) and FinModar S.r.l. in structuring, documenting and executing the investment, also through leveraged financing, for the acquisition of the entire share capital of Modar S.p.A., an Italian company based in the Milan area, specialized in high-quality production and marketing of high-quality furniture and furnishings.

Following to the acquisitions of Gervasoni S.p.A. (2015) Meridiani S.r.l. (2016), Cenacchi International S.r.l. (2017), Davide Groppi S.r.l. (2018) and Saba Italia S.r.l. (2018), completed with the legal assistance of Eversheds Sutherland’s team, thanks to the acquisition of Modar S.p.A., IDB added the sixth investment to its companies’ portfolio in order to strengthen its role as hub for Italian design in the high-quality furnishing and lighting sector.

Mr. Giorgio Gobbi, CEO of IDB, said: Modar is a reality of absolute excellence that will improve our presence in a sector that we consider strategic. In just four years we have built a hub of over Euro 130 million”.
