  • Global

Eversheds Sutherland has advised Gibson, the global industry leader of the world famous guitars, on executing a synchronised insolvency action for its Gibson Innovations electronics business.

The action across 22 jurisdictions and four continents.

The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Hong Kong based Partner Kingsley Ong, with support from a multi-jurisdictional cohort which included Partners Lieven Devos (Belgium), Remi Kleiman (France), Philippe Desprès (France), Dr Christian Hilpert (Germany), Matthijs Bolkenstein (Netherlands), Miriam van Ee (Netherlands), Luke Wochensky (Russia), Juan Eugenio Díaz (Spain), Magnus Andrén (Sweden), Patrick Eberhardt (Switzerland) and Jamie Leader (UK).

The global legal practice also worked successfully with restructuring experts at leading local law firms in other jurisdictions around the world including: Denmark, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, Brazil and Argentina.

    Kingsley Ong commented:

“Such large international insolvencies are very rare (this is our third one in the last 10 years). The amount of co-ordination and planning involved in this work was very challenging, across different time zones, languages, cultures and different insolvency legal systems and requirements.

“I would like to thank all the restructuring teams across the network who worked together with us to ensure that this international insolvency was executed in a coordinated and timely manner around the world. I am glad that we were able to support the client during a particularly difficult time.”
