Advising on asset sale of Feather & Black Limited
- Global
19-12-2017
Eversheds Sutherland has advised Duff & Phelps Administrators on the trading administration of MultiYork Furniture Limited and its sister company Feather & Black.
A majority stake of Feather & Black Limited and its assets has been sold to Hilding Anders International (HA Group), a leading bedding and mattress company operating throughout Europe, Russia and Asia.
MultiYork is owned by Wade Group with a turnover of £60 million with 50 retail stores and manufacturing facility in Norfolk.
Feather & Black is a well-established bedroom furnishings brand offering premium bedroom furniture with 25 retail stores nationwide, including concessions within Multiyork Furniture.
The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Partner Mark Wood and supported by Partner David Beswick, Principal Associates Ian Gill, Anne-Louise Lawrence and Laura Taylor, Senior Associates Doug Highet and Whitney Simpson and Associate Shareenah Atwal.
Mark Wood, Lead Partner, Eversheds Sutherland commented:
“This is the second formal insolvency matter that we have been entrusted with in the last 12 months in the Home Furniture market. It is a demonstration of a tightening of the consumer purse and the recent inflationary pressure felt on the high street.
“We are tackling this particular position, along with the Duff & Phelps Administrators to do right by the creditors, customers and all parties involved with the business.”
Allan Graham, Lead Administrator, Duff & Phelps commented:
“We have been working closely with the team at Eversheds Sutherland. Their knowledge and expertise has proved invaluable.”
