Eversheds crowned Banking and Finance Team of the Year at the Middle East Legal Awards

    Eversheds’ team won the accolade at The Oath’s awards on the 22nd November at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai

    The award recognises Eversheds as a leading advisor in banking and finance across the region following the firms work on several complex and ground-breaking deals including the Falcon Ma’an solar project, which significantly increases Jordan’s renewable energy contribution.

    With a matter value of circa US $40,000,000, the Eversheds UAE Banking team led the project across six jurisdictions, acting for the sponsors, the offshore holding company and the project company/borrower in relation to a syndicated facility for the development of a 21MW solar PV farm in the Ma’an region of Jordan, south of the capital Amman.

    Clint Dempsey led the team from Dubai and worked with a team that included, among others, Iyad Zawaidah (projects partner in Eversheds Jordan), Marco Franzini, (partner in Eversheds Milan) and Matthijs Bolkenstein (partner in Eversheds Amsterdam) and associate Laura Shortall from the Dubai office.

    The awards, which are now in their second year, are run by the Oath, a leading monthly magazine aimed at the region's legal profession. The awards recognise law firms, general counsel and in-house teams that are revolutionising the region with their outstanding contribution. Eversheds was also given an honourable mention for ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year’.
