Eversheds Sutherland welcomes new banking Partner
Eversheds Sutherland has appointed new Partner Christopher Akinrele to its banking team.
Christopher, who joins the global legal practice from Addleshaw Goddard, advises financial institutions, sponsors and corporate clients on a wide range of leveraged finance, fund finance and general corporate banking transactions.
Christopher has extensive experience advising financial institutions, sponsors and corporate clients in syndicated and leveraged finance transactions.
Simon Waller, Partner and head of Eversheds Sutherland’s finance group, commented:
“We’re delighted to welcome Christopher onboard. Nationally, we continue to operate under uncertain economic conditions. However, client demand in the areas of private equity and leveraged finance remain high – a positive trend that we believe will continue from a wide variety of client sources and to an increased deal size, irrespective of current economic uncertainties.
“Christopher joins us at an exciting stage of our team’s journey, and at a point where we are actively expanding our capability in the upper mid-market areas of private equity and leveraged finance to meet that growing demand. Christopher’s significant skill set and experience complements this, and will help underpin our ability to continue to provide the high level of service excellence our clients have come to expect.”
Nick Swiss, Head of Banking, London at Eversheds Sutherland, commented:
“Christopher joins a growing national leveraged finance practice headed by Patrick Davis, one that has enjoyed a significant shift in the last two years in the size, quality and complexity of the private equity deals it is completing. Christopher brings a wealth of in-depth leveraged finance knowledge and know-how that will enhance our existing capability. We’re very pleased to welcome him.”
Christopher Akinrele added:
“I am delighted to have joined the Eversheds Sutherland banking team and look forward to being part of the upward trajectory of the international leveraged finance practice.”
Christopher’s arrival is the second senior appointment made to the Eversheds Sutherland banking team in the last two years, having been bolstered by lateral Partner hire Chris Hastings in 2017. The team has enjoyed a successful year to date, advising on a number of key transactions including the acquisition of Microgen Financial Systems Limited by Silverfleet Capital and the acquisition of Simbec-Orion Group Limited by CBPE Capital.
