Eversheds Sutherland (International) announced that Bruce Dear has been elected Chair for a term of four years. Bruce will take on the position on 1 May 2022, succeeding Pamela Thompson. Pamela did not stand for re-election as, in line with her decision at the time of her appointment in 2017, she will be retiring from the firm when her term as Chair ends.

Bruce is Head of the firm’s London Real Estate team and has advised on some of the UK's biggest and most complex property deals. He is highly respected by clients and the market alike, having been voted the Legal 500 Real Estate Individual of the Year and is also listed in its Real Estate Hall of Fame.  Further information about Bruce and his practice can be found here.

    Lee Ranson, CEO, commented,

“On behalf of the firm I would like to congratulate Bruce on his election as Chair. Bruce brings a wealth of leadership experience as well as many years of strategic client experience, having led some of our biggest real estate matters in recent years. I am very much looking forward to working with him.”

"In advance of the completion of her term, I would also like to thank Pamela Thompson for her outstanding service to the firm. She has been a fantastic partner over the past 23 years and Chair for the past four, and we wish her well for her retirement.”

    Pamela Thompson, Chair, added,

“My congratulations to Bruce on his successful election. It has been an enormous privilege to serve as Chair, particularly during a period of such immense challenge, change and opportunity, with significant strides having been made in so many areas, including the launch of our new three-year strategy and our increased focus on ESG. I have very much enjoyed the role and hope that Bruce will do so as much as I have done. I wish him every success.”

    Bruce Dear, Chair-elect, said,

“I am very grateful to my partners for electing me as their next Chair. I will be honoured to work with them to ensure Eversheds Sutherland continues to thrive for our people, our clients and our wider markets.”
