Eversheds Sutherland boosts Netherlands practice with lateral partner hire

Eversheds Sutherland has strengthened its Real Estate team in the Netherlands with lateral Partner hire Natascha Geraedts.

With extensive domestic and international expertise, Natascha is a leading real estate lawyer specialising in administrative law relating to specific real estate issues, environmental law (EHS) and planning and zoning. Natascha co-founded vanState Advocaten BV, a boutique law firm in Amsterdam focussing on real estate, environmental and planning law. Clients included project developers, real estate investors, renewable energy companies as well as business leaders looking to develop real estate.

David Watkins, Co-Head Global Real Estate and Planning, said:

“2018 continues to be a positive year for our real estate practice in continental Europe following a successful expansion in Germany last year. We are continuing to make strong headway across the continent and I am pleased to welcome Natascha, an excellent and well-established lawyer, on board.”

The Netherlands has been one of the best performing European investment markets. According to the CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firms, the country is ranked third for investment volume in continental Europe, with 70% of all purchases made by foreign investors. With a steady economy, expanding occupier market and solid foreign investment, prospects for the Dutch real estate sector remain strong.

Paul Goedvolk, Head of Real Estate Eversheds Sutherland Netherlands, commented:

“The Dutch commercial real estate market is one of the strongest in Europe. With trading now on a global stage with international players, we are at the forefront of this burgeoning industry. Natascha has the right combination of technical expertise, commercial insight and an excellent reputation in the local and international real estate sector. Her experience will give us the competitive edge we need to bring genuine value to clients.”

    Natascha Geraedts, added:

“Eversheds Sutherland has a strong global presence with a highly regarded real estate practice. I look forward to working with the team and contributing to its continued success.”

Natascha’s appointment follows Eric Métais who joined the Paris Real Estate practice in March 2018. In 2017, Eversheds Sutherland established a full-service real estate practice in Germany. The team, which includes 30 lawyers across four offices provides clients with partner-led advice across the lifecycle of real estate assets.
