Eversheds Sutherland appoints City corporate M&A partner to grow upper mid-market platform
Eversheds Sutherland has recruited Giles Dennison, a highly respected corporate partner with over 20 years’ experience, into its London M&A practice.
Giles joins Eversheds Sutherland from Simmons & Simmons where he was head of the UK corporate group, advising on corporate matters, including private and public M&A, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, corporate governance and general corporate support. His clients include UK and US corporates from the TMT, consumer, diversified industry and healthcare sectors.
At Eversheds Sutherland, Giles will focus on growing corporate and M&A relationships with large UK and US-based corporates, and have particular focus of two of Eversheds Sutherland’s key sectors: TMT and consumer.
Richard Moulton, Co-Head of the Global Corporate and M&A Team, said:
“Giles is a renowned corporate M&A partner and it’s great to bring a City lawyer with his experience into our established M&A group. He brings formidable knowledge of the UK and US markets with him, and we’re looking forward to him adding additional strength to our City M&A practice. As a member of our TMT M&A sector group, I look forward to working with Giles to grow our profile and enhance the experience for new and existing technology, media and telecoms clients.”
Giles Dennison also commented:
“I am really excited to have the opportunity to grow my practice with Eversheds Sutherland’s global network. I have spent over 20 years accruing experience undertaking strategic corporate and M&A mandates for both UK and US clients; with that background, the prospect of connecting with colleagues in Eversheds Sutherland's US network was a particular factor in joining the firm, as well as the opportunity to help develop further its strong position in the M&A market. Richard, Keri and everyone involved are extremely ambitious for the practice and I am very much looking forward to playing a role in the team’s further growth.”
Keri Rees, Co-Head of Global Company Commercial, also said:
“Giles brings real strength to our Corporate and M&A teams. We’re building our presence in the City and globally to ensure we’re actively involved in high-value, complex mandates. Giles’ arrival follows other recent lateral hires in the UK and Europe, strengthening the group’s trajectory in the right direction so we continue to be viewed as a preferred partner for the City’s top corporate transactions, alongside taking on more transatlantic mandates.”
Giles’ arrival follows the senior appointments of Partners Tony Anderson and Christopher Akinrele made to Eversheds Sutherland’s London practice earlier this year.
The global legal practice has continued to invest heavily in its wider corporate capability in the last 12 months with the arrival of a number of new lateral Partner hires including Stacey Kern (US), Michael Birchall, Dr. Werner Brickwedde, Stewart Womersley, Dr. Maximilian Findeisen, Dr. Michael Prüßner, Jeroen Hoekstra, and Elmer Veenman (Europe).
