Firm commended across 13 categories in The Times ‘Best Law Firms 2019’

Eversheds Sutherland has been commended in 13 categories of The Times’ peer-led ‘Best Law Firms 2019’ survey, and the Real Estate team has ranked 2nd in the Commercial Property category.

The Real Estate team was commended for a number of recent high-profile matters, including a cross-practice team having advised on Network Rail’s £1.46 billion sale of its 5,200 asset property portfolio, advising the Cabinet Office and HMRC on one million square feet of government property redevelopment, and advising Birmingham City Council on its development of Grand Central. Of 21 firms in the UK noted for their Commercial Property work, Eversheds Sutherland ranked 2nd, behind CMS.

The team is also commended in the Planning, and Landlord & Tenant categories, further evidence of the global legal practice’s strength in Real Estate matters.

Co-Head of Global Real Estate and Planning David Watkins commented:

“We’re thrilled to be recognised in this category, particularly as the reviews are peer-led. This ranking acknowledges the achievements and outstanding work of the team and the quality, high-profile deals we work on.”

The Times’ inaugural ‘Best Law Firms 2019’ survey is peer-led. Over 20,000 solicitors and hundreds of clients were asked to nominate and recommend UK law firms across 31 categories, separated into Business Law, Public Law and Private Client Law fields. Solicitors may not recommend their own firms in this survey. Of the UK’s 10,000 law firms, 500 received commendations with 200 making the final list of ‘Best Law Firms 2019’, with individual firm’s recommended across different categories.

In addition to the 2nd place ranking for Commercial Property, Eversheds Sutherland was one of only three firms to receive 13 or more commendations across the survey’s 31 categories, those are:

    • Administrative & Public Law
    • Banking & Finance
    • Commercial Dispute Resolution
    • Company & Commercial
    • Commercial Property
    • Education
    • Employment
    • Energy & Renewables
    • Insolvency & Restructuring
    • Landlord & Tenant
    • Mergers & Acquisitions
    • Planning
    • Project Finance (Construction).
