Eversheds Sutherland has advised BNP Paribas on its strategic arrangement with Kantox, a Fintech specialising in FX risk management solutions.

The collaboration, which strengthens BNP Paribas’s foreign exchange service offerings, enables BNP Paribas and Kantox to offer Kantox’s Dynamic Hedging solution to BNP Paribas’ clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Dynamic Hedging is an innovative solution developed by Kantox designed to help global companies eliminate FX risk and exposure to market volatility by automating micro-currency trades.

The Dynamic Hedging service will complement the cash management, trade finance and FX suite of products available on Centric, BNP Paribas’ digital banking platform. It also reinforces BNP Paribas’ commitment to digital growth and transformation, demonstrating an agile approach which combines the strength of a leading global bank with the latest advances in financial technology.

The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by Partner Craig Rogers, with support from Principal Associate Kirstin McCracken and Senior Associate Rebecca Sherry. Graham Hann and Tom John from Taylor Wessing advised Kantox.

Craig Rogers, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland in London, commented:

“This the latest in a series of projects which reinforces Eversheds Sutherland’s ability to advise global financial institutions on collaboration, joint-development and joint go-to-market deals with new or early stage Fintechs. It was a pleasure working with the BNPP and Kantox teams and we wish them all the success as they roll the dynamic hedging service out across their client-base.”

Xavier Gallant, Co-Head of Corporate Rates, FX and Local Markets Sales EMEA at BNP Paribas, said:

“When it comes to managing foreign currency risk, we are seeing a real need for our corporate clients to improve efficiencies in forecasting their future cash flows, formalising hedging practices and optimising execution through automation. BNP Paribas’ partnership with Kantox will offer corporate treasurers in EMEA the opportunity to access a fully automated hedging solution and ultimately improve their treasury processes. We look forward to a successful partnership.”

Eversheds Sutherland established its Fintech and Digital Financial Services practice more than four years ago. It is made up of a cross-disciplinary team drawn from its technology, outsourcing, cyber, privacy, M&A, banking, insurance and regulatory teams across EMEA, the US and Asia. The team advises its clients on a range of projects from joint-ventures and collaborations, to new product launches, investments, acquisitions and Initial Coin Offerings.
