UK pensions team wins prestigious industry award

Eversheds Sutherland’s UK Pensions team has been named Pensions Law Firm of the Year at the Pensions Age Awards 2018.

The award recognises the global legal practice’s standout expertise in pensions legislation and client work, and its setting of standards for other pensions practices to follow.

Finalists were judged by a panel of pensions industry professionals. The Eversheds Sutherland team fought off tough competition from 11 other firms including Allen & Overy, Linklaters, Hogan Lovells and Herbert Smith Freehills.

Jeremy Goodwin, Head of London Pensions at Eversheds Sutherland, and who collected the award on the night, comments:

“We’re thrilled to once again be recognised as Pensions Law Firm of the Year. Our pensions team constantly strives to deliver the highest quality advice in a sensible, pragmatic way and is built on strong, long-term relationships with our clients and their other advisers. We are delighted to see this commitment recognised.”

Eversheds Sutherland’s UK pensions team has recently advised the trustees of BHS in connection with the collapse of BHS, the Regulator’s investigation and the Work & Pension Select Committee inquiry and the trustees of the General Motors (GM) schemes on the sale of GM Europe. They continue to secure significant new clients including Electricity Pensions Limited, Howden Joinery plc, LGPS Scheme Advisory Board and the trustees of the P&O pension scheme.

The Pensions Age Awards recognises both the pension schemes and the pension providers across the UK in increasingly challenging economic times. The awards are open to UK pension schemes or provider firms which serve pension schemes in the UK.
