Eversheds Sutherland advises Manchester International Festival
Eversheds Sutherland has provided pro bono legal support to Manchester International Festival (MIF), the world's first festival of original, new work and special events.
This year’s festival is being held between 1-18 July 2021. Launched in 2007, MIF is an artist-led festival, creating dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking new work across a range of different art forms which are staged across a variety of venues in Greater Manchester. As well as on-stage events, a rich online offering also allows attendees to experience MIF wherever they are in the world.
The Eversheds Sutherland team is led by Kuljeet Gill, Client Partner, and Michael Clavell-Bate, Manchester Senior Office Partner, and is supported by Partners Tom Bridgford and Phillip Tunney, Legal Director Amanda Dodsworth, Principal Associates Sasha Fasolilli, Lisa Highet and Helen Cairns, Senior Associate Alexandra Emery and Associates Amy Parkinson, Mark Rand, Misha Sealy and Laura Nally.
The team advised MIF on a multitude of matters including working with artists across the globe to finalise commissioning agreements; advising on The Factory – a new world class cultural space currently being built in Manchester that MIF will operate all year round; supporting with queries regarding IP infringement and various regulatory compliance issues; providing bespoke IP training; and creating customised precedent agreements for MIF to use going forward.
Kuljeet Gill commented:
“Eversheds Sutherland is proud to support this amazing organisation and is committed to working closely with MIF to showcase the arts and culture that Manchester has to offer. The collaboration, creativity and inclusivity of the festival align with our purpose and values, and we’re excited that this year’s festival will increase footfall in Manchester’s vibrant city, while shining the spotlight on the wider global arts community.”
John McGrath, Chief Executive & Artistic Director at Manchester International Festival added:
“We’re thankful for Eversheds Sutherland’s professional expertise and are appreciative of their continued support over the years. As a global professional services firm with a strong presence in Manchester, it feels like a fitting partnership. With their help we can continue to put Manchester on the world stage and support internationally-acclaimed artists to present work at the festival and online.”
