Eversheds Sutherland advises Standard Life on strategic partnership with Key Group

Eversheds Sutherland has advised Standard Life, part of Phoenix Group, in relation to a strategic agreement with Key Group on a range of Lifetime Mortgage products branded Standard Life Home Finance.

Key Group offers financial advice to UK homeowners in later life, while the Standard Life Home Finance branded products aim to provide customers with more choice and flexibility to meet their changing financial needs in later life. The products will be provided by Key Group and will use its platforms.

Eversheds Sutherland advised on all aspects of the transaction, including the commercial aspects, consumer finance and funding arrangements.

The Eversheds Sutherland team was jointly led by Partners Alex Mehdevy (finance) and Hugo Laing (corporate financial services), with support from Partner Naomi Seward (consumer finance), Henry Dean, Senior Associate (financial services), Helen Mackey, Principal Associate (tax), and Fergus Mckinley, Associate (finance).

    Hugo Laing, commented:

“We are really delighted to support Standard Life on this arrangement. It has been exciting to watch this market grow and to have then had the opportunity to help ensure the successful launch of this range of Lifetime Mortgage products. This was a great team effort across Eversheds Sutherland and we have all really enjoyed working with the Standard Life team.”

Tom Ground, Managing Director Retirement at Standard Life, said:

“This was an important transaction for us, involving a number of complicated elements. We are delighted that we could rely on Hugo, Alex and the rest of the Eversheds Sutherland team to deliver this successful outcome, coupled with their equally excellent client service.”
