Eversheds Sutherland bolsters its Restructuring and Insolvency practice group in Munich

Eversheds Sutherland has expanded its German offering in the areas of restructuring and insolvency-related consulting. As of today, Dr. Anne Deike Riewe joins as Counsel, strengthening its Munich-based Restructuring and Insolvency practice group.

Dr. Anne Deike Riewe primarily advises on insolvency law issues, extending into corporate law including contentious-related matters. She advises companies in the manufacturing, trade and service sectors as well as their managing directors and contractual partners in restructuring and insolvency situations, both in and out of court. Anne has extensive experience in the prosecution of claims for insolvency administrators, and in the defence and prevention of liability claims vis-à-vis managing directors and in the contesting of insolvency.

Before establishing her own law firm in May 2014, Anne worked as a lawyer for Beiten Burkhardt and CMS Hasche Siegle. Anne is the deputy chairwoman of the Working Group for Insolvency Law and Reorganisation in the German Bar Association (Deutscher Anwaltsverein, DAV) and a member of the editorial board of the New Journal for Insolvency Law (Neue Zeitschrift für Insolvenzrecht, NZI).

Dr. Christian Hilpert, head of the German Restructuring practice group of Eversheds Sutherland, said:

"With Anne Deike Riewe, we further strengthen our legal practice with a colleague experienced in crisis situations and corporate restructurings. The global supply chains, which are subject to ever faster innovation cycles, and the influence of economic risks have led to an increasing need for an operational restructuring capability  that can support and provide solutions to complex insolvency legal issues.”

Eversheds Sutherland recently advised the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and a major engine manufacturer in protective shield proceedings (Schutzschirmverfahren) in relation to the assets of Condor Flugdienst GmbH and various suppliers from the automotive sector on their restructuring and self-administration.

Dr. Alexander Niethammer, the new Managing Partner of Eversheds Sutherland Germany since 1 May 2020, commented:

"We are very happy to welcome Anne Deike Riewe to our team. With her addition to the team, we are strengthening our consulting services in Germany with regard to restructurings and are further expanding our Munich-based capability. The field of restructuring and insolvency is an important area in which we want to grow further in order to be able to offer our clients a strong pan-European practice."

    Anne Deike Riewe said:

"Eversheds Sutherland is very well positioned, especially when it comes to cross-border corporate restructurings. I am really looking forward to continuing this success story together with my new colleagues."

The Restructuring and Insolvency practice group, headed by Dr. Hilpert, specialises  in complex restructuring solutions, preventive and out of a crisis, both in and out of court. The team advises both (groups of) creditors and investors as well as insolvency administrators, debtor companies and their executive bodies on corporate restructurings, distressed transactions and in connection with insolvency proceedings.
