Dominique Strieder joins the firm
Eversheds Sutherland has strengthened its German team with the appointment of compliance and internal investigations lawyer Dominique Strieder into the newly-opened Frankfurt office.
Dominique joins from 1st January 2023 as a Partner from specialist compliance and governance firm Pohlman & Company, where he has focussed on compliance advice, risk assessment, reviews and internal investigations – both domestic and international. He regularly advises clients, both national and international, on the development and implementation of group-wide compliance systems, covering areas such as ESG, supply chains, and whistleblowing.
Dual-qualified in both Germany and the UK, Dominique previously worked at Siemans AG and law firm Clifford Chance. He has strong industry experience, particularly in the Energy, Telecoms, and Healthcare sectors and has worked closely alongside a variety of other practices – including M&A and data protection. He has strong experience in cross-border regulatory investigations, including working with US authorities on compliance monitorships.
Dominique’s core focus on compliance advice, whether preventative or investigatory, will also be an excellent supplement to the current white collar crime advice practice led by David Rieks who is based in Hamburg. He joins corporate and M&A partner Dr Steffen Schniepp and IP and Life Sciences partner Anette Gartner in the Frankfurt office, which launches in January. His appointment is another demonstration of the firm’s stated intention to support its Europe offering - both through adding a strong Frankfurt-based practice to existing German offices, and through expanding the capacity to offer multi-disciplinary advice.
Joos Hellert, Partner and Head of the Practice Group Litigation & Dispute Management, Eversheds Sutherland Germany commented:
“Dominique has an enviable skill-set, developed across all stages of compliance, governance and internal investigations. He not only adds valuable capabilities to our fast-growing Frankfurt office but will also expand our German team’s capability to support clients with a full service suite of advice – both here and across Europe. We are delighted to welcome him. ”
Alexander Niethammer, Managing Partner, Eversheds Sutherland Germany commented:
“Dominique’s depth and breadth of experience reinforces our ability to advise on the most complex cross-border matters. His particular experience working with other jurisdictions, such as the United States, makes him a valuable addition to the team as we continue to build on our strong European offering and develop our capability to deliver on complex international mandates.”
Dominique Strieder commented:
“The opportunity to join Eversheds Sutherland at such an interesting and exciting time in its development was not to be missed. Working closely with a new team in Frankfurt, and with the support from colleagues in Germany’s four other offices, will enable me to build a global practice in compliance and internal investigations, which has a high legal demand from many corporate clients. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
