Eversheds Sutherland’s finance team in London advised GuarantCo in relation to the financing of loan facilities to Shams Power and IM Solar for the roll-out of a rooftop solar across Pakistan. Senior debt was provided by Bank Alfalah.  The transaction is the first portfolio financing of rooftop solar projects at this scale in Pakistan.

In parallel, Eversheds Sutherland’s finance team in Paris advised GuarantCo on the issuance of a portfolio guarantee in favour of Orabank Togo in support of a portion of Orabank Togo’s infrastructure related portfolio.  This unique product will help boost capital relief for banks to enable new financings of projects in the region.

The teams were led by Mark Dennison, Partner and Head of Infrastructure, London, and Sindhura Swaminathan, Partner and Head of Finance, Paris. They were  supported by Kate Shannon, Principal Associate, London,  and Louis-Jerome Laisney, Principal Associate, Paris.

    Mark Dennison, Partner, commented:

“Rooftop solar brings renewable energy directly to the consumer, and it has been a privilege to provide English law finance advice to GuarantCo to enable this innovative cross-border transaction to reach financial close. GuarantCo continues to enable the roll-out of complex, first-in-country infrastructure and energy projects across Africa and South Asia and our teams look forward to supporting it on many other similar projects in the future.

    Sindhura Swaminathan, Partner, commented:

“It was a wonderful experience to help support GuarantCo on such an innovative and unique product which enables the expansion of much needed infrastructure on the African continent. Thank you GuarantCo for allowing us to be a part of this.”
