Eversheds Sutherland bolsters Amsterdam practice with further hire

Eversheds Sutherland has further strengthened its corporate finance practice in Europe with the appointment of Pim van Leersum as Partner in the banking and finance team. Pim joins the Netherlands practice on 1 February 2020.

With over 11 years’ experience in Finance & Restructuring and Capital Markets, Pim is an all-round corporate finance lawyer. He joins from De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, an independent law firm, where he was a lead Associate.

Pim’s technical skill and extensive experience spans across the corporate finance spectrum, including leverage acquisition finance, project finance, corporate refinancing, (plain vanilla and hybrid) bonds, IPOs and private placements of securities. He is trusted by various listed companies to advise on their most sensitive disclosure issues.

Pim’s arrival follows the recent hire of lateral regulatory banking and finance partner, Gidget Brugman who recently joined the practice in November 2019.

Simon Waller, Partner and Head of Finance Group, commented:

“This is a strategic hire for Eversheds Sutherland as Netherlands advice is key in developing further our international banking and finance platform. The global corporate financial market is growing in the Netherlands, and more generally across Europe. Practitioners are particularly optimistic about the continued high deal volume notwithstanding effects of Brexit, recession indicators in some European economies, trade wars and ECB interventions.

“With Pim’s arrival, we can continue to push and support clients on transactional work, for which there is a growing demand. The provision of transactional banking advice is a key offering for our corporate and banking clients, where corporate structures increasingly use tax-efficient solutions domiciled in the Netherlands.”

Michael Brown, Managing Director Netherlands, added:

“We are delighted to welcome Pim. His experience of both debt and equity capital markets and the adaptability of that skill set will be hugely beneficial to our growing client base. We will certainly see more demand for banking and capital markets services created by clients in the Netherlands.”
