Eversheds Sutherland appointed as legal adviser to Clara Pension Trust

Eversheds Sutherland has been appointed as legal adviser to the Trustee of Clara Pension Trust – the new member-first consolidator for defined benefit (DB) pension schemes.

Clara-Pensions in effect acts as a bridge for pension scheme members, taking their benefits from their current company-sponsored pension scheme to a long-term insured future.

The Trustee directors of the Clara Pension Trust are Alan Pickering (Chair) from Bestrustees, Michael Chatterton from Law Debenture, and Frank Oldham from ITS.

The Eversheds Sutherland team was led by pensions partner Jeremy Goodwin, with fellow pensions partner Emma King. The appointment involved a competitive tender process.

    Jeremy Goodwin commented:

“Clara-Pensions is a brand new, innovative pension scheme for the UK. We’re delighted to be able to support the Trustee from the very beginning of its journey as well as on the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”

    Adam Saron, CEO, Clara-Pensions commented:

“Good governance, including the highest quality legal advice, is of the utmost importance to Clara, as we bring a new solution to defined benefit pension scheme members. Eversheds Sutherland, with its excellent track-record in advising pension scheme trustees, was a natural choice to act as our partner in this process.”
