Insurance professional Mark Everiss joins the firm as partner

Eversheds Sutherland today announces the hire of heavyweight insurance professional Mark Everiss as a partner in its Insurance Group. Mark was previously a partner with Cooley, where he led their global insurance practice group for five years.

Mark has over 25 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector, across both contentious and non-contentious matters advising clients in relation to third-party liability, onshore and offshore energy, financial institutions, employers’ liability, product liability, D&O, cyber and warranty & indemnity matters. He is regularly instructed in reinsurance disputes in the live and legacy markets, at all levels of the UK Courts and in arbitration.

He is well known in the London insurance market, is an active member and director of IRLA (the Insurance and Reinsurance Legacy Association) and is recommended in the directories for his expertise and experience.

He is a regular speaker at insurance and reinsurance events and conferences. As well as being a director of IRLA, Mark is also a member of the British Insurance Law Association, AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society and The Chartered Insurance Institute.

Simon Brooks, Partner and Co-head of Global Insurance, Eversheds Sutherland:

“As a highly experienced industry professional, Mark brings a unique breadth of insurance industry knowledge to the firm. His understanding of high value complex disputes, including legacy work, means that Mark will add valuable insights and an authoritative voice for our clients. We are excited that he has chosen to join the firm as we continue to invest and build our UK insurance offering following insurance experts Martin Mankabady and Adriana Cotter joining earlier in the year.”

Mark Everiss, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland commented:

“I’m delighted to be taking on such an interesting and challenging role at the firm. Working closely with Simon, my plan is to help grow our contentious insurance and reinsurance capabilities and help develop our talented lawyers in support of our clients’ strategic goals. The potential for work for dynamic international law firms from the live and legacy markets is growing, and as the economic climate becomes more challenging we are well placed to provide clients with the advice needed to develop and protect their businesses.”
