Eversheds Sutherland is proud to announce that Associate Henry Li and Co-CEO Lee Ranson have both been recognised as OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Models 2018, presented by the Financial Times.

Henry was ranked 22nd in the list and Lee was ranked 12th.

    Henry Li

Associate Henry Li has been recognised in the 50 LGBT+ Future Leaders list which acknowledges those making a significant contribution to LGBT+ inclusion wherever they are placed in the organisation. Henry has dedicated a great deal of time, care and passion to supporting the transgender and intersex communities and his work has ranged from forming an inter-disciplinary working group to support the Public Consultation on gender recognition in Hong Kong to speaking on gender recognition to a range of audiences.

Earlier this year Henry was recognised as the 2018 Community Business LGBT+ Inclusion Champion for his pioneering work to support gender identity recognition in Hong Kong.

    Lee Ranson

Lee Ranson has been named in the 50 Ally Executives list, which acknowledges the contribution of 50 senior executives who are outspoken and unwavering in their support for LGBT+ people in the workplace. Lee was judged by a panel of business leaders on successfully meeting certain criteria including: making the workplace a more welcoming place; initiatives outside of the workplace that help to achieve positive change for LGBT people; recent awards and promotions, and seniority and influence in the business.

He has also championed our employee networks which support our commitment to diversity and inclusion and last year led the re-launch of our LGBT+ network, Perspective. Perspective has seen membership increase by over 1,000%, from 45 to over 500 now, and has successfully launched in four of our non-UK offices – Dublin, Paris, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi.

    Associate Henry Li commented:

“I’m deeply honoured to be featured in the FT’s OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Models 2018. A great support system at work is very important to LGBT employees. In Asia, we very often find more accepting ears in the office than at home. I’m keenly aware of how lucky I am to be working at a truly inclusive and supportive firm like Eversheds Sutherland. I hope I can continue to help to create a more inclusive place in our offices and in the wider community.”

    Co-CEO Lee Ranson commented:

“Improving diversity and inclusion within the workplace is something I am extremely passionate about and I am honoured to be named as a top 50 Ally Executive for my support of LGBT+ people in the workplace. There is an urgent need for all organisations to improve in this area, and I am proud that the work that Eversheds Sutherland is doing has been recognised in this way.”

    Chair Pamela Thompson commented:

“Our sincere congratulations to both Henry and Lee for their outstanding work in furthering the LGBT+ agenda. Making Eversheds Sutherland a welcoming place for everyone is critical and whilst this must led from the top, real and lasting change can only be achieved through the collective efforts of the whole organisation.”
