Eversheds Sutherland continues investment drive in global M&A offering as Roger Barron takes up advisory role

    Eversheds Sutherland welcomes corporate heavyweight Roger Barron as a Senior M&A Adviser to its corporate capability, reaffirming the global law firm’s commitment to its M&A offering through ongoing strategic investment.

    Roger has been a leading M&A lawyer for over 30 years, 27 of which were with Linklaters. Until recently he was a Partner at the US headquartered law firm, Paul Hastings, where he was appointed Global Vice Chair of its M&A practice.

    Roger has advised on some of the market’s most significant and complex transactions. He has a broad experience of all aspects of corporate law, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, demergers, reorganisations, and corporate finance. His sector expertise is also wide-ranging and includes energy, utilities, media, and telecoms.

    In addition to his transactional work, Roger has been a key boardroom adviser to a number of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 clients, as well as both US and European corporates, providing strategic guidance and counsel on corporate governance.

    Roger has received a number of different industry accolades and plaudits in acknowledgment of his experience and expertise within M&A including being featured in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2018 in the "Dealmaker" category. He is also listed in the 2022 edition of legal industry directory, Legal 500’s ‘Hall of Fame’ for M&A which describes him as being: ‘…noted for his formidable M&A experience’ and ‘provides wise counsel, is very commercial and responsive’. Since 2018, Roger has been listed in Who’s Who.

    In 2020, Roger was asked to provide expert evidence to the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee relating to the U.K. Government's National Security and Investment Bill.

    Eversheds Sutherland has welcomed a swathe of new senior appointments to its M&A and wider corporate capability in recent months including Martin Mankabady and Adriana Cotter, a corporate insurance lateral Partner-team hire from Dentons, and tax Partners Philippe de Guyenro, and Dr. Lars Haverkamp.

    The global law firm also announced 31 promotions to partner for 2022 (with effect from 1 May), several of whom are within its corporate team and include Cristina Audran-Proca, Ben Brown, Simon Davies, Ceri-Ann McGraa, Stephen O'Reilly and Samer Sarkis
