Eversheds Sutherland welcomes new IP Partner

Eversheds Sutherland has welcomed new partner Rupert Bent to its Intellectual Property (IP) team.

Rupert re-joins Eversheds Sutherland from Walker Morris where he was a Partner and Head of IP. He was also formerly Head of IP Litigation for the English regions at Pinsent Masons and immediately prior to that spent almost a decade at Eversheds Sutherland as a senior IP lawyer.

Rupert has significant expertise in advising on the full range of contentious intellectual property matters including patent, trade mark, copyright, design right and passing-off disputes. In addition he assists clients with aspects of their non-contentious IP work including branding and portfolio management.

Rupert has successfully led high profile litigations for a variety of household name companies, achieving a 100% success rate in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. He has also gained significant in-house experience at Arcadia Limited and retail giant Marks & Spencer plc where he was responsible for protecting, enforcing and advising in relation to its entire intellectual property portfolio.

He is ranked as a ‘Leading Individual’ by both legal industry directories, Chambers and Partners and Legal 500.

Neil Mohring, Partner, Head of IP & Media, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Rupert back to Eversheds Sutherland. Rupert’s experience of complex and strategic intellectual property matters is well aligned to our practice as we focus on the growth of our intellectual property practice.

“Rupert’s extensive knowledge of IP matters will help us to better meet client demand and enable us to offer an enhanced IP capability. Rupert’s skills and experience will be a superb asset to the team.”

    Rupert Bent commented:

“I’m very pleased to be re-joining the team as a partner and very much look forward to the challenges ahead. It is a great opportunity to work with highly skilled professionals in IP and to support the team in this area of expertise.”

In today’s competitive landscape, client demand for IP expertise is very much on the increase. Eversheds Sutherland is one of only a few, full service legal practices with the capability and experience to provide first class intellectual property advice across the globe.
