Eversheds Sutherland appoints Phillip Richardson and Sheena Buddhdev as Partners within its Litigation practice
Eversheds Sutherland today announces the addition of two new Partners within its commercial disputes practice: Phillip Richardson and Sheena Buddhdev.
Both will join the global Litigation practice’s Commercial Dispute Resolution team in London – Phillip joins this week, and Sheena on 1 September 2021.
Phillip has more than 12 years’ experience as a commercial litigator, with a broad practice advising clients across multiple sectors. His particular focus is on TMT disputes as well as accountancy investigations and enforcement proceedings. Together with his broader disputes practice, Phillip will work closely with Kari McCormick, Partner in Eversheds Sutherland’s Financial Services Disputes and Investigations team, advising clients on contentious mandates, complex investigations and enforcement within the accounting and auditing sector.
Sheena has been advising clients on complex, high-value disputes for more than 20 years. Her practice is built around corporate litigation for hedge fund and private equity clients, often with a cross-border element, as well as contentious insolvency and restructuring mandates. Sheena also brings experience in international arbitration, bolstering Eversheds Sutherland’s growing arbitration capability.
Phillip’s and Sheena’s arrival follows other investment into Eversheds Sutherland’s London disputes practice, including the recent appointments of Claire Stockford and Kari McCormick, and the promotion of Tim Browning to Partner in 2021.
Mark Davenport, Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution at Eversheds Sutherland, said:
“Our London disputes team is going from strength to strength, and is fast becoming one of the most respected practices for advising on complex commercial disputes. The team has grown consistently over the last five years, with a particular emphasis on challenging, cross-border work. Phillip and Sheena’s arrival ensures we are constantly evolving and improving our global disputes experience with which to service our clients’ most demanding contentious mandates.”
Paul Worth, Co-Head of Global Litigation at Eversheds Sutherland, said:
“Sheena and Phillip join our growing London disputes team at an incredibly exciting time. With 31 London partners in the group and double digit growth for each of the last four years, we have the scale and breadth of expertise to handle the most complex and challenging disputes for our clients. We are continuing to invest in a full service litigation and investigations practice at a time when some firms are adopting a more constrained approach. Sheena and Phillip will be terrific additions to the team.”
Sheena Buddhdev commented:
“I am excited to meet my new colleagues, and identify opportunities to collaborate with the global practice, and work alongside key clients within London and internationally. Eversheds Sutherland’s global network provides the ideal platform to further grow the practice on an international scale, and I am looking forward to getting started.”
Phillip Richardson commented:
“Joining Eversheds Sutherland affords me the opportunity to help grow the practice and build connections across some of my core areas of focus including auditing, accounting, telecoms and technology disputes. I look forward to leveraging the experience of the team, and helping to further grow the firm’s reputation in the London disputes market.”
