Eversheds comment: New KKR fund typifies flight to quality in buoyant Asian market

Commenting on the establishment of Asia's largest ever private equity fund, Stephen Kitts, partner and private equity expert at global law firm Eversheds, says:

"This successful fundraising demonstrates that in difficult and turbulent market conditions, investors are looking at track records when either placing funds or seeking professional advice. There is a general flight to quality that is typified by KKR's ability to raise its new fund despite stiff competition.

"Overall, the Asian market, particularly South East Asia, remains vibrant with real potential for future growth. Organic growth in Europe and the US is seen to be problematic whereas in Asia, despite some modest downturn, the growth potential is considered to be much different. Private equity has identified these positives, hence the strong appetite to continue to invest."
