Eversheds comment: Norfund move underlines growing attractiveness of investing in West Africa

  • United Kingdom

Commenting on news that the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries is considering investments in financial-services and clean-energy businesses in Ghana, Boris Martor, partner and Africa expert at law firm Eversheds, says:

"Norfund's decision to expand in Africa underlines the huge current interest from funds in making more direct investments across the continent in growing sectors such as financial institutions, retail and clean energy. In order to realise their ambitions, fund teams need to be embedded on the ground to source the best projects and investments. As always, in-depth local knowledge is absolutely key to suceeding in African ventures."
