Eversheds comment: Rising rents for London office space

  • United Kingdom

Commenting on news that London office space is in short supply and placing significant upward pressure on prices, Tom Goldsmith, partner and London real estate expert at law firm Eversheds, says:

"We have certainly seen notable rental increases in the proposed deals that are coming across our desks. However, the shortage of supply is not necessarily driving the legal elements of the deals to be completed more quickly. While occupiers may feel under pressure to agree the terms of deals, we are not seeing faster due dilligence or agreement to draft documentation by occupiers out of fear that another party is looming in the shadows. In short, it is not solely a landlord’s market as was the case in 2007."
