Regional ‘hub’ deals to support Civil Service reform
Eversheds Sutherland has advised the Cabinet Office and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on all legal aspects of the planning, real estate and construction of the hub programme.
The Government has already successfully exchanged agreements for offices in Belfast (Erskine House), Bristol (3 Glass Wharf), Canary Wharf (10 South Colonnade), Cardiff (6 Central Square), Croydon (1 Ruskin Square), Edinburgh (New Waverly), Liverpool (India Buildings) and Leeds (Wellington Place).
The Government Hubs Programme will transform central government’s office estate by accommodating multi-departmental workforces in shared buildings in London and in the regions. There will be 18-22 strategic hubs across the UK, located in major towns and cities and accessible by a range of excellent transport links. Hubs will be modern, sustainable buildings, supported by smart technology and shared services.
Helen Thomas, Head of Corporate Real Estate at Eversheds Sutherland, commented:
“We are delighted to have worked with the government in delivering some of the biggest occupier requirements in the market. The hubs programme will transform the way the Government works and create modern fit for purpose spaces which will be a positive influencer in the drive to reform the Civil Service.”
