Education webinar - Sponsor Compliance Visits – Are You Prepared?
Who should attend
This training event is aimed at anyone who works in the education sector.
Synopsis
Holding a sponsor licence is a privilege and not a right and UKVI places stringent requirements on sponsor licence holders to uphold and comply with the applicable Sponsor Guidance and Immigration Rules. Sponsors must play their part in making sure the immigration system is not abused.
If a sponsor is found not to be meeting its obligations, UKVI can take action including preventing sponsors from assigning Certificates of Sponsorship / Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, issuing action plans, or revoking the sponsor licence if a sponsor is deemed to have significantly breached its sponsor obligations. Recently a number of institutions have been issued with actions plans following non-compliance and we expect this type of enforcement action to continue.
Any action taken by UKVI can be severely disrupting, costly and more importantly reputationally damaging to the institution. Any restriction placed on an institution’s ability to recruit staff or students from overseas would clearly have a hugely detrimental impact on the institution as a whole.
In this webinar we will cover:
- key areas of assessment for existing Worker and Student sponsor licence holders
- migrant checks and interviews
- role and powers of a Compliance Officer
- suspension, downgrade and revocation of sponsor licence
- practical tips
