Employment Law Breakfast Briefing: GDPR – tackling the practical HR issues

Who should attend

HR Professionals and in house lawyers with responsibility for GDPR from an employee perspective

Despite the GDPR implementation date of 25 May 2018, many organisations are still tackling the practical implications of this new, and at times ambiguous, legislation. We all understand that data must be retained for “no longer than necessary”, but what does that actually mean? What can we keep and for how long? And what practical steps will organisations take to ensure data cleansing happens?

Also, what is the position with regard to basic criminal records checks under the new law (i.e. where an organisation has no legal obligation / right to run a standard or enhanced check)?

Similarly; with the shortened deadline for responding to a subject access request, how can employers manage such requests from a practical perspective, particularly where an individual’s request is wide and would involve a significant amount of data?

Please join us for coffee and breakfast as we take a look at the practical implications of GDPR from an HR perspective, an area which most organisations are tackling for the first time. We will discuss the approaches you are taking in your business and share our experience of how other organisations are dealing with these issues. We will also provide our top tips to help you understand and manage the risks in your organisation.
