Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) employment law training

Who should attend

This course is relevant to international HR managers and directors, and in-house employment lawyers who have responsibility for employees in Nordic jurisdictions. It will also be useful to managers and directors who anticipate entering the Nordic market, and who need to be aware of their responsibilities to their people.

Scandinavian countries have a shared history, a tradition of working together on legislative issues and a similar approach to welfare. Citizens of Nordic states can pass across each other’s borders and they understand each other’s language. But despite the similarity of legal structures and solutions, there are significant differences, to the extent that lawyers tend to specialise in one jurisdiction only.

Northern Germany has, at various times, been part of Sweden and Denmark, and it is not unusual for Scandinavian nationals to work across the German border, and for EMEA HR professionals to oversee their Nordic operations from a German base. This course provides an introduction to the employment laws of three Nordic countries, with comparisons with the UK and German employment law framework. We will also mention Greenland, over which Denmark has sovereignty, and which is of interest to some international companies.
