Sponsoring migrant workers: Tier 2 immigration applications

Who should attend

HR professionals, recruiters and employers looking to apply for a sponsor licence in the near future.

Synopsis

The Government proposes to introduce a new immigration system after 2021 which is likely to be the most important change to immigration law in 50 years. It is critical that UK-based employers, who cannot meet their staff needs from the local workforce, understand who may be sponsored to work for them. This course is for HR and recruitment professionals with Tier 2 or Tier 5 responsibilities who deal with such applications already and knowledge of the points based system is assumed.

Programme

We cover the following:

  • Tier 2 sponsor licence: obtaining/renewing your licence and key personnel requirements
  • Tier 2 intra-company transfers: sub-categories and applicable thresholds
  • Tier 2 general: relevant criteria and conducting a resident labour market test
  • Tier 4 and Tier 5: employing students, recent graduates those seeking internship and via government authorised exchange
  • sponsor compliance: obligations, difficulties and risks
  • Home Office audits: what to expect and how to respond the impact of Brexit on the sponsorship process
  • proposals within the Immigration White Paper

This course does not cover illegal working and right to work checks, or immigration categories which sit outside of the points-based system.
