The student route – Education webinar - what do you need to know and how do you remain compliant?

Who should attend

This training event is aimed at anyone who works in the education sector.

The Student route, formerly the Tier 4 immigration route, continues to remain a challenging and complex route, particularly following the impact of Covid affecting day to day sponsor compliance and the gradual lifting of those restrictions, making way for a number of changes to the way in which the Student route operates.

It is the key route for the recruitment of non-British and Irish students and, extending the categories of students that institutions need to sponsor to those EEA nationals who have not acquired settled or pre settled status, has increased the number of students for whom institutions will have sponsor compliance obligations.

In this webinar we will cover

  • key changes to the Student route
  • balancing compliance with opportunities for international growth and collaboration
  • key personnel and the basic compliance assessment
  • assigning CAS
  • courses
  • English language requirements
  • credibility – how to demonstrate students have the intention and ability to complete the course
  • work placements
  • student working rights
  • key sponsor duties – record keeping and compliance with Appendix D and SMS reporting
  • compliance action – action plans, limit on CAS and licence revocation
  • study under other routes - short-term study and the visitor route
