Ireland & Northern Ireland employment law - key differences with Great Britain
Who should attend
This course is relevant to HR managers with a UK, or UK and Ireland, wide remit or to international HR managers and directors with responsibility for employees in Ireland and Northern Ireland. It will also be useful to managers and directors who anticipate entering the Irish or Northern Irish market and who need to be aware of their responsibilities to their people on the island of Ireland. This course will assume a level of knowledge of employment law in Great Britain.
Synopsis
The Irish and UK legal systems have many similarities. However in an employment law context those similarities can be deceptive. In addition, the fact that employment law in Northern Ireland is a devolved matter means that there are, in reality, three different employment law jurisdictions across the UK and Ireland, namely Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
This course will provide an overview of the key differences in employment law in Ireland and Northern Ireland when compared to the employment laws in Great Britain and will also touch on the fair employment registration and monitoring obligations which are unique to Northern Ireland.
This course will cover:
- Practical guidance on the key differences in employment law between Ireland and Great Britain and the differences in employment law between Northern Ireland and Great Britain;
- Insight into cultural differences between Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
