  • Estonia

Eversheds Sutherland advised a well-known gaming and quiz platform Kahoot! in acquiring the Drops language learning platform, which has grown in Estonia and has more than 25 million users worldwide.

SoftBank and a fund advised by Capital World Investors participated in the transaction as financiers.

Kahoot will pay the company $ 31 million and later another $ 19 million in cash and shares if Drops is able to meet the 2022 targets. Drops started in Estonia in the accelerator of GameFounders in 2012.

Eversheds Sutherland's team consisted of managing partner Maivi Ots, associates Taavi Kõiv and Siim Olev, and lawyers Erika Tuvike and Markkus Päll. Counselling took place in cooperation with a Norwegian law firm Thommessen, whose team consisted of partner Hans Cappelen Arnesen, Trine Haaland Danjalsson and Djulia Todorova.
