Conference on Communal Waste Management Reform

A conference devoted to issues of implementation of reforms in the system of communal waste management will be held in Warsaw on 16 May 2012. The organizer of the event is Wolters Kluwer publishers.

The purpose of the conference is to present practical solutions to problems in applying the new rules introduced in Poland by the Act of 1 July 2011 Amending the Act on Cleanliness and Orderin Communes and Certain Other Acts. Under this topic, conference participants will have an opportunity to learn about the new rules governing waste collection services and the issue of fees for waste management, as well as related issues under public procurement law.

The conference is designed for:

  • representatives of regional and local government and executive authorities of associations of communes responsible for waste management, environmental protection and public procurement
  • representatives of companies involved in collection, segregation and utilization of wastes, as well as investors interested in doing business in this area
  • managers of communal waste management facilities.

Our law firm will be represented at the conference by Arwid Mednis, who specializes in administrative law, particularly public-private partnership projects, as well as telecommunications law and data protection.

During his presentation, entitled “Public-Private Partnership in Communal Waste Management,” he will discuss the following issues:

  • construction, maintenance and operation of regional communal waste processing facilities under the PPP approach
  • opportunities for carrying out other waste management tasks using the PPP model
  • financing PPP waste management projects
  • the roadmap for PPP projects.
