Workshop on Price-Fixing, Impermissible Agreements and Prohibited Market Practices

A workshop entitled “Price-Fixing, Impermissible Agreements and Prohibited Market Practices” will be held on 11–12 December 2012 at Le Méridien Bristol Hotel in Warsaw. The event is organized by Trio Conferences.

During the two-day workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about such issues as:

  • Penalties for violation of competition law—rules for imposing penalties and current case law
  • Horizontal and vertical arrangements and the conditions under which they are permissible
  • The boundary between business information and collusion
  • Legal regulations concerning anti-competitive practices and abuse of a dominant position.

The workshop is designed for representatives of management boards, legal departments and sales divisions of companies from the construction, real estate, telecommunications, energy, pharmaceutical, financial and FMCG industries.

Our law firm will be represented by Małgorzata Modzelewska de Raad, who heads the competition law practice. During her presentation, entitled “Transparency of Competition Regulations and the Rules for Cooperation with the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection,” she will discuss the following issues:

  • The types of cases typically taken up by the competition authority
  • Which sectors of the market are most often monitored by regulators
  • What practices are most often the target of inspections, and what are the preferred resolutions
  • The goals of competition policy for the future
  • Analytical approaches: formal v. economic
  • How to interpret official letters, analyze documentation, and respond to notifications or allegations of impermissible practices.
