Legal Aspects of Urban Redevelopment

As part of a course for persons involved in urban redevelopment in the member cities of the Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts, Wierzbowski Eversheds partner Tomasz Korczyński will give a lecture on the legal aspects of urban redevelopment on 7 March 2013 at the Silesia Province Marshal’s Office in Katowice. The course is organized by the Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts in conjunction with the Silesia Province Marshal’s Office.

The course is designed for persons involved in urban redevelopment in cities in the province of Silesia. The purpose is to improve the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in the redevelopment of urban areas using an integrated approach.

The course comprises 10 topical sessions:

  • Urban redevelopment programming
  • Economic aspects of redevelopment
  • Social initiative and participation in the redevelopment process
  • Space as the raw material and one of the goals of redevelopment
  • Zoning aspects of redevelopment of post-industrial areas
  • Revitalization of apartment blocks
  • Housing in the redevelopment process
  • Legal aspects of redevelopment
  • Financial aspects of redevelopment
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the redevelopment process (benchmarks).

The lecture on legal aspects of redevelopment to be held on 7 March 2013 will be led by attorney at law Tomasz Korczyński, a partner specializing in public-private partnership issues. The subjects covered in the session will include:

  • A review of current laws governing redevelopment  Public-private partnerships in redevelopment
  • Legal difficulties connected with the redevelopment process
  • Guidelines for the proposed Urban Redevelopment Act.
