XIV Local Government Capital and Finance Forum

Wierzbowski Eversheds is a partner in XIV Local Government Capital and Finance Forum, which will take place on 22-23 September 2016 in Katowice.

Local Government Capital and Finance Forum is a prestigious meeting, which, for many years, has been a platform for exchanging experiences between the heads of the local government and the public administration representatives and businesses. The event will include more than 60 panels and debates, which will consist of 10 thematic conferences. This year's Forum will bring a broad discussion on the financing of investment in local governments, centralisation of VAT, all aspects of revitalisation, shared services centers, municipal transport, digitisation of rural areas, etc.

Among the new main themes there will be sessions on intergenerational space, coordination of social services, environmental protection in rural areas, water and sewage management, waste management in-house contracts. Issues related to the debt of hospitals and new opportunities of finding solutions out of this impasse will also be discussed.

For the first time a conference dedicated to geo-information and information and communication technologies will take place. Dr Arwid Mednis was invited to be a speaker. He will give a lecture entitled “Big data in the intelligent city - legal framework for the use of information in public services”.

This year's Forum will be attended by nearly 1000 people: leaders of local governments, representatives of public administration, business and culture, NGOs and the media.

The event is organised by Międzykomunalna Spółka Akcyjna Municipium SA - publisher of the Local Government Paper "Wspólnota" and the monthly "Pracownik Samorządowy".
