  • Press_Releases

In June 2019 Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland launched a blog devoted to legal aspects of manufacturing, sale, promotion and disposal of consumer products. The Polish site “W ramach regulacji” is edited by lawyers from the firm’s Commercial team, headed by Marta Gadomska-Gołąb and Dr Aleksandra Kunkiel-Kryńska. The Polish name of the blog refers to the regulatory “framework” for consumer products.

The authors of the blog intend to analyze various aspects of the legal environment around the whole life cycle of consumer products. They will discuss solutions helping businesses maneuver skillfully through regulations governing their operations and make optimal business decisions. The blog will be written with an eye to manufacturers, importers and distributors of consumer products, retailers, consumer organizations, advertisers, and consumers themselves.

“Our team has extensive experience advising on consumer law and regulatory matters, and we would like to share that with our readers,” said Marta Gadomska-Gołąb. “For years we have worked with leading companies from the sectors of consumer electronics, household appliances, FMCG, e-commerce, clothing, furniture, food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. We advise clients every day on legal issues of product safety, marketing of products, unfair competition, contracts and advertising, and represent them in regulatory proceedings, consumer claims and warranty claims – we would like to discuss all of these topics on our blog. We will also comment on topics connected with waste management and obligations imposed on undertakings in connection with the environmental impact of their operations.”

According to Dr Aleksandra Kunkiel-Kryńska, “We are launching the blog at a time when new challenges appeared on the horizon for European consumer law. These include the program by the European Commission entitled ‘A New Deal for Consumers’—a package of proposed changes in regulations governing the broad area of protection of consumers’ rights in the EU. For years the Commission has adopted strategies and programs setting the direction for the development of consumer regulations in the EU to ensure that they remain current and consistent with the changing requirements of the internal market. The new package will lay down the roadmap for changes in European consumer law for the years ahead, requiring undertakings to comply with a new reality of even stronger consumer protection. The challenges posed by the New Deal for Consumers will generate no end of legal issues requiring analysis.”

The principal authors of the blog will be lawyers from the firm’s Commercial team. Apart from Marta Gadomska-Gołąb and Dr Aleksandra Kunkiel-Kryńska, the contributors to the site will include Joanna Kwaśny-Krajewska, Agnieszka Sagan-Jeżowska, Błażej Grochowski and Krzysztof Karłowicz. Depending on the topic, posts may also be contributed by lawyers from other teams as well as outside guests.

The consumer regulatory site will follow the form and function of the five other blogs published by Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland. The first firm blog was the public procurement service EuroZamówienia, founded in May 2011, followed the same year by a blog on intellectual property (IP w sieci) and in subsequent years by blogs on employment law (Kodeks w pracy), energy law (Przepis na energetykę) and dispute resolution (Lepsza taktyka).
