Łukasz Petelski joined Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland in November. As a leading specialist in energy law, he will be responsible for implementing projects for companies in this sector as part of the newly created Public Sector & Energy practice, headed by partner Michał Drozdowicz, who joined us last month.

Łukasz specializes in advising the energy industry. He also has significant experience in real estate and environmental law, and provides legal support for transactions financing energy-sector development projects.

He has a wealth of regulatory experience. He has participated in numerous proceedings before the president of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE), including tariff proceedings, concession proceedings, and proceedings related to connections to the power grid. He has negotiated and drafted key agreements for the power industry (such as PPA, CPA, O&M and EPC). He has drafted standard form contracts for delivery of power distribution services as well as comprehensive contracts. He has advised companies from the energy sector on conditions for participation in European energy exchanges, such as EPEX SPOT, EEX and PXE.

He was a strategic adviser to entities executing renewable energy projects. His experience includes involvement in detailed studies of photovoltaic projects with a total capacity exceeding 500 MW. He also advises entities developing wind-energy projects, having prepared numerous due diligence reports in this area. He has advised on several M&A transactions on the Polish energy market.

Łukasz’s energy practice also includes advising clients from the gas sector. He has conducted several negotiations of gas sales contracts, including shale gas.

He is a frequent lecturer at conferences and seminars on energy law, particularly renewables, and is the author of numerous publications on renewable energy sources.

Łukasz graduated from law at the University of Białystok, Poland. He earned a master’s degree in French law at Paris Dauphine University.
