Maciej Jóźwiak is an attorney at law on the litigation team at Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland. He specialises in arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution methods.
He has a wealth of experience leading judicial disputes involving civil and criminal law before the courts of arbitration and state courts of all instances, including the Supreme Court of Poland. He represents clients in arbitration proceedings before the Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris and at the Polish Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw.
Maciej focuses on developing arbitration and other Alternative Disputes Resolution practice, being an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration at the Confederation of Lewiatan and a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London.
He has advised companies from the of energy, construction, retail, and telecommunications sectors.
Maciej is a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops concerning dispute management and internal procedures and an author of many articles regarding arbitration and ADR issues. He runs an ADR blog (Smart Strategy -
He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. 

Maciej Jóźwiak is a partner heading the dispute resolution team at Eversheds Sutherland Wierzbowski.

He specializes in representing clients in judicial proceedings. He also handles arbitration proceedings and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. 

Maciej has more than 10 years’ experience providing legal advice to businesses. He supports clients with risk management for potential disputes and dispute management for ongoing matters. He represents clients in litigation, arbitration and mediation, in both commercial and criminal proceedings. He works for leading companies operating in the FMCG, energy and banking sectors. He has advised in well-known court disputes concerning shelving fees and currency options. He has represented clients in arbitration at the ICC International Court of Arbitration as well the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

He is the author of many articles on arbitration and ADR issues. He also conducts workshops on arbitration, dispute management, and internal corporate procedures (for compliance with anticorruption law, FCPA and Bribery Act 2010).

Maciej is an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration at Polish Confederation Lewiatan and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. He is also a board member of the ADR Committee at ICC Poland, where he leads the work of the Corporate Counsel Advisory Board.

Recent projects

  • Representing clients from the FMCG sector in over 120 disputes before courts of all instances (including the Supreme Court of Poland) as well as arbitration courts, concerning shelving fees as an act of unfair competition
  • Advising and representing a banking client in a dispute before the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris
  • Advising and representing Saxo Bank in pioneering court disputes concerning CHF/EUR currency options connected with the decision of the Swiss National Bank to uncap CHF rates
