Applying to Eversheds Sutherland
How do I apply?
You can apply via our online application form.
Applications for our traineeship programme are now open.
Applications for our 2023 summer internship programme will open in December 2022.
If not successful this time round, can I apply again?
Yes, candidates can apply as often as they like however bear in mind if a candidate re-applies we like to see what they have achieved since their last application.
If I have already graduated can I apply?
Yes, we accept applications from graduates for both our trainee and intern programme.
Do I have to have studied law to apply?
No, we accept applications from all degree disciplines for both our trainee and intern programmes.
If I am not in the country for my interview, can I organise a virtual interview?
We envisage that our interviews will be virtual this year so this is not a problem.
Traineeship Programme
What intake are you recruiting for this year?
We are recruiting for the 2024/2025 intake.
How many trainees do you recruit for each intake?
We hire approx. 20 trainees in each intake.
If successful, when would I start my traineeship?
Trainees can opt to complete a rotation prior to PPCI (pre seat) in April or May subject to business requirements or alternatively a trainee may decide to not complete a pre-seat and will then start their traineeship in early September at PPCI.
Many of our trainees intern in the firm prior to starting a traineeship, this is a great way to get to know other trainees and colleagues before starting as a trainee.
Do I get to choose my rotations?
Our trainees are required to complete a rotation in the core areas of Litigation, Corporate and Property and a final rotation in an area of their choice. Where possible, we try and accommodate preferences whilst also bearing in mind business requirements.
Which departments can I complete my rotations in?
Each trainee has the opportunity to rotate to Real Estate, Corporate, Litigation and a specialist area including Tax, Employment, Pensions, Banking, Construction and Projects , Funds and Intellectual Property, Technology and Data protection.
What is the retention rate for trainees post qualification?
Having invested in our trainee group our aim is to retain all of our trainees. Our retention rate in recent years has been above 75%.
Do trainees have the opportunity to go on secondment?
Yes, our trainees have the opportunity to apply to spend 4 weeks in one of our European offices.
Does the firm pay my Law Society fees?
Yes, all fees are covered.
Does the firm pay for my FE1 examinations costs?
Yes, we reimburse trainees for the cost of all 8 FE1 examinations.
Summer Internship Programme (SIP)
When does the summer programme start?
The SIP starts at the end of May each year and runs for 11 weeks until early August.
Do I need to be available for the full 11 weeks?
Yes, candidates must be available for the full duration of the programme.
How many summer interns do you recruit each year?
We recruit approx. 20-25 interns each year for the 11 week programme.
Do I stay in one department for the duration of the SIP?
Yes, spending a full 11 weeks on one team exposes our interns to high quality work whereby interns become a vital part of the team.
Do I receive an opportunity to interview for a traineeship?
Yes, all of our summer interns are guaranteed a traineeship interview in October.
Do interns have the opportunity to go on secondment?
Yes, our summer interns have the opportunity to apply to spend two weeks in one of our UK offices.
