Eversheds Partnership with Barretstown

Eversheds Sutherland Partnership with Barretstown

Barretstown, which offers free, specially designed camps and programmes for seriously ill children and their families, has been Eversheds Sutherland's longstanding charity partner for over 12 years. The Barretstown camp is in the Kildare countryside and welcomes children aged from seven to 17 from Ireland and over 20 other European countries to participate in a range of arts, crafts and outdoor activities.

We regularly participate in and host fundraising initiatives for Barretstown, from sponsoring an event to supporting the Barretstown Golf Day. Our staff members also regularly volunteer at fundraising activities and site enhancement days for the charity.

“Barretstown have been fortunate to work in a partnership with Eversheds Sutherland for over 7 years. During that time, staff at all levels in the organisation have demonstrated tremendous commitment to the children and families living with childhood illness, who come to Barretstown. Staff at Eversheds Sutherland volunteer at Barretstown each year, and support a number of essential fundraising events for Barretstown. We have also been very fortunate to benefit from legal advice and support over the years. Organisations like Barretstown which are entirely reliant on voluntary support, could not provide the services we do, without strong, long term relationships such as the one that has developed with Eversheds Sutherland. It is fantastic to see an organisation like Eversheds Sutherland, with such a strong focus on CSR activities, including offering consistent support to a charity like Barretstown and providing such unique and varied opportunities for their staff to engage with that charity.”  Dee Aherne, CEO, Barretstown

Eversheds Sutherland Sports Day for Barretstown

Previously we have held an Eversheds Sutherland Sports Day for Barretstown. It has been one of the charities largest fundraisers and has raised approximately €90,000 for the charity to date.

For the Sports Day, the teams gather in Dublin’s Herbert Park to compete in traditional school sports day events that include the Egg and Spoon Race, the 3 Legged Race, the Sack Race, Wellie Throwing, Cup Stacking and much more. The Sports Day has grown considerably in size over the last five years with the number of corporate teams taking part increasing each year. In 2016, we had an impressive 30 teams participating on the day.
