AmCham Economic Trends Webinar - OECD BEPS 2.0

  • Ireland

    27-10-2020

Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of the Center for Tax Policy and Administration at the OECD - OCDE joined Alan Connell, Partner, and Head of Tax and Commercial in Eversheds Sutherland, as part of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland Tax webinar series to discuss the recently released digital tax blueprints on Pillar I and Pillar II.

In relation to the Pillar I proposals, Alan Connell noted that industry needed to “validate the OECD prediction or argument that they could lead to a relatively small increase in the average post tax investment costs” and actively engage in the consultation process in order to “grasp the nettle and shape what it can”. Alan also noted that “a coherent multilateral approach was needed” in order “to avoid the negative impact of unilateral measures”.

On the proposed minimum tax rate in Pillar II, Mr Saint-Amans remarked “You are the winners - I think the end result will be 12.5% [for the global minimum tax rate] - Ireland have set the tone”.
